Dividing a dinner four ways is the easy half. Split Money is built for the half that usually breaks — trips across borders, rent that repeats forever, and logging a cab with no signal.
Create one group for the whole trip and log spends as you pay them. Flights on a card at home, a booking in dollars, taxis and food in local cash — each one keeps the currency it was actually paid in, and the group holds all of them side by side. See the five habits that make it work →
Rent is the same amount, on the same day, split the same way, every month. Put it on a monthly schedule once and each month’s entry posts itself, already divided between the right people. Weekly and yearly work the same way, for a standing grocery run or an annual bill. The six-step household system →
Split a dinner, a cab, or a concert ticket one-on-one without creating anything. Spends someone wasn’t part of can be recorded without involving them, and a running balance means nobody has to be the person who does the maths.
Most bill splitters force one currency per group and convert each expense at the live rate the second you type it. That rate drifts while you’re still spending money you already bought — so identical purchases end up recorded at different costs, and two people’s totals stop agreeing.
A spend is stored exactly as paid. A group can show three separate running totals — rupees, dollars and dong — with a balance for each.
Collapse the group into a single total with one tap, and switch back just as fast. Merging is a view, not a rewrite: the original amounts are never overwritten.
Live rates by default, or pin the rate your cash actually cost you. The whole group then converts at the number you agreed on, so the person who visited the exchange counter isn’t quietly absorbing the spread.
Open the app and start logging. There’s no account to create before you’ve seen the thing, no limit on how many expenses you can add in a day, and no ads sitting between you and your own money. If you want your data synced across devices or shared with the people you’re splitting with, you turn that on — it’s a choice, not a requirement.
Everything works offline, which matters more abroad than anywhere: you will be logging a taxi with no bars, on a SIM that hasn’t activated, an hour after landing. Entries save instantly and sync when you’re back on a connection. And you can export the lot to CSV whenever you want — it’s your money history, so you should be able to walk out with it.
